Restart the Printer

The first step in fixing the Canon printer error E05 is to reset the printer. Switch the printer ON, tap and hold the Stop icon for approximately 5 seconds until it starts resetting.

Let the printer reboot, and once done give a print command to see if the issue is fixed or not. If the issue continues execute the steps given below.

2. Factory Reset the Printer

A factory reset restores the default settings of the printer. This step will resolve the E05 error if it’s due to faulty settings. The steps to do it are as follows:

Switch ON your Canon printer and open the menu console. Now through the arrow keys, open the Setup menu.

Next, select Device settings and then press the OK button. Now, select the Reset option and hit on OK.

Then let the printer finish the factory reset and try a sample print to check if the problem is solved or not.

3. Reinstall and Clean the Cartridge

The cartridge is an integral part of the printer. So, it is mandatory to clean the ink cartridge from time to time to evade canon cartridge-related issues.

To clean your Canon printer ink cartridge, switch OFF the printer and after placing it on a flat surface take off the access door of the printer. Then, tap the two click-locks at the side of the cartridge holder to remove them. The cartridges will come out easily.

Next, check the ink cartridge and remove any dirt or debris. Now using soft tissue, wipe off the golden metallic strip and remove alien materials.

After removing the particles, reinstall the ink cartridges and then restart the printer.

4. Replace the Ink Cartridge

Another way that works is by replacing the ink cartridge on your Canon printer. The reason for the Canon E05 error can be faulty or incompatible cartridges so replace them and see if the issue is fixed.
